Building your own house as a self-build? This was what our customers in Heure-le-Romain, Liège, Belgium wanted to do.
The objective? A spacious and bright single-family home built entirely with Gablok insulated wooden blocks!
A personalised project
A tailor-made site
Gablok is a timber-frame self-build concept created in Belgium in 2019.
The principle? Enable anyone to build their own home without specific knowledge of construction.
This is what our customers in Heure-le-Romain chose to do. Self-building their own single-family home with Gablok insulated wooden blocks.
A house designed to accommodate the whole family. Walls erected in no time at all!
After receiving the architect’s plans, we adapted them to the Gablok insulated wooden blocks.
Every detail and every brick was taken into account and transformed into to the Gablok blocks.
The customers then received the plan for their flat-pack timber house along with a pallet containing all the wooden blocks needed to build their timber-frame house.
And then? They were ready for the self-build!
Using a screwdriver, a ladder, and the timber-frame plan, the self-builders had only to stack the Gablok insulated wooden blocks on top of each other to create their self-build structure.
The battens were then attached to the insulated wooden blocks to hold it all together.
In practice, one week, some motivation, and the strength in your arms — to lift the blocks weighing an average of 7 kg — are enough to create the structure of your home.
The end result is a stable, 100% insulated, and quickly built house.
